When I was in my teens, it was not considered cool to spend a lot of time online. LunarStorm (lightyears ahead of the FaceBook trend...) was about as far as people went, and even then it was definitely not cool to put too much time and effort into it. People would edit and play around with their profiles, put emo pictures on and send each other messages. But chatting, surfing for the sake of it, blogging? Hell no.
I loved it. I spent every waking moment online. We had a two-hour-a-day limit on time spent online (or in front of the TV; like we couldn't do both at once - plus our homework...) but we broke it. Most days. I'd stay up way past bedtime chatting on Yahoo and ICQ, in fact until I heard dad get up the next morning. I'd sneak to bed, hoping he hadn't heard me still up.
Sorry Mum & Dad - I'm pretty sure you already knew though!
But now, I've discovered all these Swedish blogs run by the gorgeous, popular, perfect girls... And it sure as hell wouldn't have been them blogging when I was that age! But then I suppose these days (man I sound old) blogging can make you a celebrity. And you can make money off it.
So that's why I do it. Half-hearted as my efforts may be...
;)

On writing.
I would like to write again. I say this a lot, I know. But as you'll have noticed from my lack of activity on here I've not had much time for any kind of writing, unfortunately.
What would I like to write? And why would I like to write? If I had the choice - as we so often wish we did - I'd write something that made a difference. To someone, anyone.
A lot of what I read at the moment (online, that is) is mindless. Rubbish. Surely I could do better? Some is witty descriptions of their every day life, and is actually amusing. I could do that? Not much, but some, of what I read is commentary on current affairs, to do with mental health or in other ways 'interest'-blogs. But what am I interested in? More to the point, what am I interested enough in to write insightful, entertaining blog posts about?
I recently promised someone I went to uni with to read and comment on a short story he's recently written (I haven't done this yet, but will tonight. Promise!). He's clearly carried on writing. Maybe not continuously since he left Lancaster back in, oh 2007? - but he's writing. And of that I am jealous.
So, where is my inspiration? How do I stop being such a grumpy sod complaining about not writing, and just make myself write?
Over and out.

We are not airtight.
These are some random thoughts I had last night as I was drifting off to sleep. Normally I don't remember them, should be keeping a note book by my bed really!
I know a girl who claims she never poops. Not as a joke or in that giggly way some girls claim they don't fart (did I say 'some'? I never fart, obviously), she's adamant she does not do number twos.
Not a very nice thing to have lingering on your mind is it? Well it was on my mind at quarter to three this morning so it's only fair it's now on yours.
She's the kind of person I want to shake, and almost shout at her - or at least laugh. My mind is almost tempted to make a mean joke out of it - but that's not the person I am (I just write about it on my blog, see...) - but seriously. If she really does not poo, and has not pooed in her 21 years on this planet, then I'm seriously worried. She really needs to see a doctor about this...
Of course, I'd never say this. I just get that confused wrinkle between my eyebrows and go 'ooook...'
Another thought on my mind 4 hours ago is that I wish some people were airtight! Or that there was at least a mute button on them. Or that I could choose not to see them, kind of like a 'show as offline' button in real life...
In other news, I'm all better now and need to get to work. Yet I'm sat blogging on my sofa. It's raining outside you see, so I'm really not feeling it...
xx

It's nearly November now.
This is disgraceful. I'm so bad at updating. Got plenty of half-written posts waiting to be finished, bear with me please!
Am half way through my POVA training, it's quite interesting. And I like the format, it's all online and quite easy to use.
Going to Mike's parents for the weekend - yay! Lots of sweets and nice food, and good company, obviously. I've said I'd make apple & cinnamon muffins. I did consider Hallowe'en-ifying them but I'm now thinking that might get a bit.. icky. Hmm.
I'm about to fall asleep so had better get going. Not been to well lately so need to get myself better for work tomorrow. Wish me luck ;)

Quick catch-up.
Today feels like a Sunday. It's kinda nice to have a second Sunday tomorrow!
Have been busy this past week, work 4 days and Lincoln on Weds for a research meeting. Not going to bore you with it but I really enjoyed it. Met some lovely people too!
I've plenty of things to write about and I will do over the next few days. At the moment the blog posts are being formulated in my head.
It's very sad about Stephen Gately. I wasn't ever a big fan but it's sad. And if you haven't already complained about it - the Daily Mail story is absolutely disgraceful. Most complained about newspaper story in the history of British newspapers, apparently. I'm not surprised!
Off to spend money. Catch you later :)
