It was my birthday last week. Got some lovely presents, including the gorgeous table cloth in the photo below. Mum knows me so well!
On Sunday we went to a farm shop place and picked loads of berries. Also in the photo below. Yumyum. I've made a whole lot of jam and eaten raspberries with custard.
And that's about it for now.

Dad's birthday shindigs!
Went home for Easter to celebrate dad's 60th birthday.
We came home on the Thursday afternoon and spent the next couple of days cooking, and picking birch branches...
Let me back up a bit there. The branches were to make bird's nests to put painted eggs, mini-daffodils and feathers in for table decorations at the party. So Joanna, Mike and I went for a walk in the forrest (well - it's a very small forrest; but I remember it as being massive...) to find some. We should probably have thought of the fact that birches don't have hanging branches low enough in forrests... d'oh! Finally found some 3 minutes from the house instead. Very inconspicuously cut branches off and shoved them into a bag...
Anyway. The party was on Easter Saturday and we had 48 people there. Eek! Mostly family (my cousins have many kids!) and some friends of the family. It was really nice to see people I've not seen in years.
Dad had a wonderful time (he says! ;) ), so a great big huge thanks to everyone who helped us make it such a lovely day.

It's nearly been a month, how did that happen?
Quite a lot has been happening - I'm sure I'll not post about it all so I won't promise I will.
Graduated a few weekends ago, it was nice. Parents & Joanna came over which was lovely - this flat may be big but it sure isn't big enough for 5 people... Bittersweet feeling as always when they left, I miss them. But should get to see Dad in March and all of them for Dad's 60th at Easter. Which reminds me, I've not booked my flight yet, oops!
The actual graduation was great, with good speeches from both the chancellor and the honorary doctorate. I'd never heard about him but I enjoyed his speech. May tell you more about it another day. Oh look, I'm doing it again - promising you things I'll probably never do...
After the ceremony we took loads of photos, Dad tried on my robe & hat (and they really suited him!) and then we went for lunch at Ask. Nice place, so busy on a Sat lunch though... And we were all pretty tired from getting up early + late night the night before. Then we went to the pub with some people off my course + their families which was really nice. Crazy warm though.
Was also elected as secretary for the charity I work with - not that anyone else stood for the role at the AGM, but still... Am quite excited but am still trying to get my head around it.
I shall tell you more about work another time - too tired right now!
Cleveland Show is on TV and it's so ridiculously bad. I expected it to be bad but not quite like this. I wouldn't recommend it.

Ponderings.
I'll fill you in on a little secret. I'm bored. I'm lazy. I've zero motivation. If things don't work the first time I tend to give up. If Mike didn't push me to keep trying I'd quite happily just not.
Actually, I don't know if that's true. But it sure feels like it.
Didn't get to sleep til very late again last night. This morning there was a massive spider in our bedroom. Not what you want! But I suppose it being alive and well in the morning means it didn't creep into my mouth overnight and I didn't chew on it.
3 weeks til the big ball & fair now. World Mental Health day is coming up! If you're in Nottingham on 10th October come check it out! Nottingham CVS on Mansfield Road, 11-3!
I've no idea what to wear to the ball. Not going to buy something new - if I manage to gather some motivation I might make something. If not, I'll wear the green dress I wore to Mike's cousin's wedding. Not very ball-y but it's a pretty dress!
In just over a week it's my great uncle's 90th. Amazing. Most of that side of my family have lived to be nearly - or around - that age. Some time I'll write about them. But for now I just have to remember to send a card. A nice one.
Today I'm sat in the lab again. It gets boring. Not so cold today though! The plan for the day is to look at voice quality. And figure out why my VSA&VAI results are so messed up. Stupid things.

Bitty writing.
8.46am. Busy day ahead - am on just over 4000 words and will get to 6000 today. At least. Not been sticking to my plan at all (no surprises there!) but that's ok. This is manageable. Or is it managable?
The presentation went well. Am quite pleased.
Tomorrow is Mike's birthday. We've bought each other a TV as birthday present - it will arrive tomorrow. Our old one gave up (imploded!) just before we went to Sweden 6 weeks ago. It was rather undramatic really - the light kind of went smaller and smaller dead quick, then there was a pop and it wasn't working. So we've been using our old little one. Looks ridiculous in our rather large front room.
I miss sewing. When I've handed in my dissertation I've got a number of things on my to-do list... Sewing. Format my hard drive and sort out all files/programs. Find a job. And so on. Probably in that order as well.
I've been reading Pauline's blog and it makes me want to write more. But every time I do it ends up like this. Bitty. Not very interesting.
Oh well.
