Promises promises.

Yeah, I know. Awful.

But I'm here! It's raining outside (for a change), it's October and my head is so full of words. I'm almost worried about what might happen if I can't find a way to let them out soon...

Work is busy, I'm doing 3 modules at once so not much time to work on my actual thesis, so that's a bit frustrating but it's all stuff that needs doing and for two of them the main assignment is sections that will go into the thesis so all good.

I'm meant to do my pilot study this term but I have no idea where that will fit in. Will find a way I'm sure!

Now - off to clean a little bit, then bed - and tomorrow Karin is coming! I can't wait.

Nightnight.

Move.

So, just over a week until I move to Göteborg. Life is busy as you can imagine.

Flat is sorted, all I need to do is finish packing & organise the move, contact banks etc to let them know change of address, and say goodbye to people... to Mike (if only for a few months!).

I'll most likely be more active when I start getting busy. Ha.

Tired.

It's been a busy week. Pleased it's Friday tomorrow! I've not got the energy to write anything exciting tonight (HA! Do I ever?) so I apologise for this post...

On writing.

I would like to write again. I say this a lot, I know. But as you'll have noticed from my lack of activity on here I've not had much time for any kind of writing, unfortunately.

What would I like to write? And why would I like to write? If I had the choice - as we so often wish we did - I'd write something that made a difference. To someone, anyone.

A lot of what I read at the moment (online, that is) is mindless. Rubbish. Surely I could do better? Some is witty descriptions of their every day life, and is actually amusing. I could do that? Not much, but some, of what I read is commentary on current affairs, to do with mental health or in other ways 'interest'-blogs. But what am I interested in? More to the point, what am I interested enough in to write insightful, entertaining blog posts about?

I recently promised someone I went to uni with to read and comment on a short story he's recently written (I haven't done this yet, but will tonight. Promise!). He's clearly carried on writing. Maybe not continuously since he left Lancaster back in, oh 2007? - but he's writing. And of that I am jealous.

So, where is my inspiration? How do I stop being such a grumpy sod complaining about not writing, and just make myself write?

Over and out.

Steps 20th April.

13680 steps today. And a very busy day...

Is this becoming a steps-blog? Sure looks like it... I'm sorry!

Blaaah.

Am a bit overwhelmed at the moment. There's a lot going on and I'm struggling to keep up. No, you don't need to be worried - I'm fine. Just busy.

It'll get better, just need to get some things out of the way and then I can get on with the every day stuff  :)

Quite a few projects seem to be starting to come together so I'm pleased :) Will update at some point, I'm sure.

Went for a few drinks with colleagues at the council on Friday, it was really nice. And hearing people's positive reactions when I told them I'd still be working there a day a week for a while was great :) Planning a girly weekend in London to see a show in Sept or so with some of those colleagues as well!

Have given up on the Cognitive Psych course I started, was way too far behind by the time I got accepted onto the course... Shame! But I can always do it another time. Have just started another one in communication, group dynamic and e-services. Looks great! And applied for a few for the summer, will see which ones I get onto...

It's taken me all night to write this post, I keep getting distracted. Sigh. Bed time I think, need a break.

It's nearly been a month, how did that happen?

Quite a lot has been happening - I'm sure I'll not post about it all so I won't promise I will.

Graduated a few weekends ago, it was nice. Parents & Joanna came over which was lovely - this flat may be big but it sure isn't big enough for 5 people... Bittersweet feeling as always when they left, I miss them. But should get to see Dad in March and all of them for Dad's 60th at Easter. Which reminds me, I've not booked my flight yet, oops!

The actual graduation was great, with good speeches from both the chancellor and the honorary doctorate. I'd never heard about him but I enjoyed his speech. May tell you more about it another day. Oh look, I'm doing it again - promising you things I'll probably never do...

After the ceremony we took loads of photos, Dad tried on my robe & hat (and they really suited him!) and then we went for lunch at Ask. Nice place, so busy on a Sat lunch though... And we were all pretty tired from getting up early + late night the night before. Then we went to the pub with some people off my course + their families which was really nice. Crazy warm though.

Was also elected as secretary for the charity I work with - not that anyone else stood for the role at the AGM, but still... Am quite excited but am still trying to get my head around it.

I shall tell you more about work another time - too tired right now!

Cleveland Show is on TV and it's so ridiculously bad. I expected it to be bad but not quite like this. I wouldn't recommend it.

Feeling hungover.

No, I didn't drink or do anything silly last night. I just feel odd today! Slept about an hour Friday night (got carried away making some jewellery - pictures later - and had to get up at half past 4) and had a very long day with lots of travelling yesterday. Slept a good amount of hours last night though, so will be caught up soon.

I'm really not very good at staying up all night. Yesterday I was alright as it was such a busy day, lots of people around etc. But the couple of times I've done all-nighters recently I've fallen asleep in computer lab whilst typing. It makes for interesting reading once you wake up, I'll tell you that for free. I think I fixed it all before handing in my dissertation though ;)

Joanna was here last weekend. She left on Tuesday and I miss her already. It was so nice to see her and have her all to myself for a while! We did a lot actually, I never normally do things! Went to the Castle museum which was great (thanks for the tip Paula!) - all three of us got in for £6.50 even though I'd left my York resident's card at home and Mike doesn't actually have one. Normally it's £7.50 per adult, but Joanna's Swedish student ID worked (it also worked in Outfit, score!). Thank you, nice lady on the till!

There were some great exhibitions, about cleaning and household appliances (sounds odd, I know...), they'd built up a Victorian street and loads of rooms from different time periods... The prison part of the museum was alright but I'd expected more - especially with all the hype about the e-fit of Dick Turpin. I'd been looking forward to that but it was actually only mentioned once, one tiny paragraph as part of a massive board display of other things. Oh well, I've seen some presentations of how they do it in general and the technology they use anyway so perhaps I'll survive.
